In a move that follows industry trends and is likely due to increased production costs, Toyota has increased prices of its popular MPV, the Innova Crysta. The price hike is in the range of Rs 22,000 to Rs 33,000, depending on the variant. There are no major updates since the facelift version was launched earlier this year in June. With the latest price hike, Innova Crysta is now available in the price range of Rs 19.95 lakh to Rs 27.10 lakh.

๐Ÿ“Œ The Core Development

Toyota Innova Crysta has five broad trim levels โ€“ G, GX, GX+, VX and ZX. Apart from the equipment list, variants also differ in terms of their seating capacity (7 or 8 seater) and colour options. Platinum White Pearl variants of Innova Crysta command an additional premium in comparison to other colour options. In the latest price hike, the highest increase of Rs 33,000 is applicable on the ZX MT 7S and ZX MT 7S Platinum White Pearl variants.

Second highest increase of Rs 31,000 is applicable on VX MT 7S, VX MT 8S, VX MT 7S Platinum White Pearl, and VX MT 8S Platinum White Pearl variants. Innova Crysta variants that have become costlier by Rs 27,000 include the GX+ MT 8S and GX+ MT 8S Platinum White Pearl. 7-seat versions of these variants have become costlier by Rs 26,000 each.

๐Ÿ” Background & Sector Context

Price hike is relatively less in case of lower trims of Innova Crysta. Buyers planning for GX MT 7S or GX MT 8S Platinum White Pearl variants will have to shell out Rs 23,000 more. Prices of GX MT 8S and GX MT 8S Platinum White Pearl variants have been increased by Rs 22,000. In percentage terms, this recent price hike for Innova Crysta is in the range of around 1.12% to 1.23%. This is unlikely to have any major impact on consumer preferences.

There are multiple reasons why Innova Crysta continues to be the preferred choice for fleet operators, taxi drivers and private buyers. With its body-on-frame construction, the MPV offers enhanced durability. It can easily manage rough or unpaved road conditions and carry heavy loads. Innova Crysta is also preferred for its reliability and relatively lower maintenance costs.

๐Ÿ“Š Industry & Real-World Impact

Another key reason is its robust diesel powertrain. This is something that is becoming increasingly hard to find amid the shift towards petrol and greener fuel options . Powering Innova Crysta is a 2.4-litre diesel engine that generates 150 PS and 343 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Users can choose from drive modes of Eco and Power.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Strategic Outlook & What Lies Ahead

Toyota Innova Crysta is also hard to beat in terms of its spacious interiors, designed for optimal comfort. Key features include premium leather seats, enhanced legroom, one-touch tumble second row seat and easy slide front passenger seat. Other highlights include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, a dedicated connectivity suite, cooled glove box and wireless smartphone charger.
