The Kia EV9 was the first mainstream three-row electric SUV to reach the market when it went on sale for the 2024 model year. While it still largely has the segment to itself, sharing the space only with its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 , the competition is coming, with Toyota and Subaru gearing up to launch the related Highlander and Getaway EVs early next year. In preparation, Kia is giving the EV9 a series of small updates for 2027 in a bid to remain competitive, while still keeping prices reasonable.

๐Ÿ“Œ The Core Development

There are no changes at the bottom of the lineup, and the rear-wheel-drive 2027 EV9 Light Short Range starts at $56,635, an increase of just $90 versus the 2026 version. The Light Long Range, which is also rear-wheel drive but packs the larger 100-kWh battery, also sees a $90 bump to $59,635. Moving up, the EV9 Wind gets a $190 price increase, now starting at $65,735. For 2027, the Wind now sports black 19-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior trim, and it can now be specโ€™d with Wolf Gray exterior paint.

๐Ÿ“Š Industry & Real-World Impact

The biggest changes come on the EV9 Land, which also gets the biggest price hike. The 2027 EV9 Land starts at $71,635, a $1090 jump compared with last year. However, the Nightfall Edition that Kia launched for 2026 , which brought gloss-black 20-inch wheels and exterior trim as well as a blacked-out interior, is now standard on the Land. This means that for the 2027 model year, itโ€™s actually $410 less than the Land Nightfall Edition cost in 2026.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Strategic Outlook & What Lies Ahead

The Nightfall Edition also included the torque-boost function that was normally an optional extra on the Land, so now the boost function is standard on that trim level. The feature temporarily increases torque from 443 to 516 pound-feet, knocking the zero-to-60-mph time for the nearly 6000-pound SUV to 4.5 seconds.

The GT-Line model remains at the top of the lineup, starts at $73,635 (up by $90), and has no changes for 2027. Kia didnโ€™t specify when exactly the 2027 EV9 will start reaching dealerships, but we expect to see it on lots before the end of the year.
